When we talk about hormones and getting older, most of us think of women first. And then the comments and bad jokes about menopause ramp up.

Few of us think of men’s hormones changing as they get older, like do men’s hormones change like women’s do?

The quick answer is yes. But, that’s not the full answer.

Because, like for women, the rate and amount of men’s hormones vary from man to man. And when and how much their hormones decrease varies considerably from one man to the next.

Some men will find their hormone levels decreasing dramatically by the time they are 40, while others don’t have decreasing levels of hormones until they are well into their late 60’s.

Like with women, men are impacted by the level of hormones. Low testosterone has been known to contribute to prostate difficulties, hardening of the arteries and weakening bones and muscles, while increasing the amount of fatty tissue in the body.

In fact, one of the indicators of low testosterone is having fatty “man boobs” in overweight men.

If this was not enough, having a low testosterone level also dramatically decreases a man’s interest in sex even though they love their honey, find her attractive and want to be with her.

Many men with low testosterone have much more difficulty in achieving and sustaining an erection. And, “the pill” won’t help.

If you are starting to see yourself in these symptoms and descriptions, be sure to ask your doctor to check your testosterone level when you next see him.

Your lack of interest and inability to be more love’n may well be hormonal.
