There’s a big difference between why you have ED and what causes ED.

Some men may have all the risk factors, obesity, high blood pressure, atherosclerosis, poor diet, smoke like a chimney and drink like a fish…and still not seem to have any problems in the bedroom.

Others seem to be in great health, exercise, pay attention to their diet and still have trouble.

It would be comforting to say some version of it’s a mystery, and be done with it. But it would also be really annoying.

Yet, for some men, it is a mystery. They don’t understand, at least not yet, why they are troubled.

For most men however, the why is pretty evident.

Lifestyle factors, diet, exercise, weight, smoking, alcohol, are right at the top of the list of what can get you into trouble.

Take smoking: it can cause arteriosclerosis, or hardening/furring of the arteries. They thicken and become less elastic. Not just the arteries in your head, heart or legs but in your penis as well. The very place you want them to be flexible and elastic to let the blood flow in when you become aroused.

Smoking..not good for a healthy love life.

Or, consider the consequences of obesity and a poor diet. Often a forerunner of type 2 diabetes…a growing problem in both men and women today. Often resulting in more arteriosclerosis. Which often leads to nerve damage and muscle tissue myopathy, decreasing the effectivness of nerves and muscles in the penis, resulting in an inability to maintain an erection.

Poor lifestyle choices can sabotage your love life.

The good news is, if you catch it early enough, cleaning up your act can often have very quick significant results. Start to watch what you eat, give up the junk food, start taking walks with your honey, and lay off the alcohol, and very soon you’ll start to see some changes in not just your attitude, but your love life.

The best news about choosing this kind of change? It doesn’t cost much, keeps on working, and doesn’t have the nasty side effects of taking pills or using exotic herbs from some unknown jungle.

Besides most of those are expensive, and don’t really work for most men anyway. And, let’s not get into side effects. It can get really ugly.

What about those men who have cleaned up their lifestyle habits and still have trouble?

For most men past 40, periodic “ED” is just a part of life, typically brought on by what’s happening in their daily life. It could be stress, a quarrel with your honey, being tired or even trouble at work. When these issues are resolved, typically things get back to normal.

Or, they can be a consequence of poor lifestyle choices. Too much fat and alcohol, smoking, obesity, lack of exercise are all suspects in your hunt for a turnaround. The good news is, changing your health habits can help you feel better, and perform better very quickly. The bad news is, the longer you’ve been ignoring your body, the harder it will be to reverse the effects. And, there may be some things you now just can’t change.

For others, it may really be a health problem, or a warning of a future health problem. Be sure to check it out with your doctor and ask him for a cardiogram. Periodic erectile difficulties are often a forerunner of heart problems even when there are no other symptoms.
